Expressing Love

Studies have clearly shown that people who can experience and express their love and concern live longer, healthier lives. Being able to express our feelings of love doesn't just cause us to feel better - the other person gains a sense of wellbeing as well.

What more powerful attention could you get than to have someone you care about say I love you"? And what greater impact could you have on your world than to give your love freely, without reservation, without fear? Unfortunately, few of us dare to open up enough to give or receive love. Typically, we tie up much life energy in restricting the flow of love because we are afraid - we fear rejection, fear strong emotions being aroused, fear intimacy, or fear vulnerability.

Like the ground we walk on, love supports us in all we do. Blocking love, whether it be self-love or love for or from others, will inexorably have a negative effect on our happiness and health. Love is not something you can analyze and define. In fact, attempting to do so is likely to keep you from being able to experience it. Love is letting go - letting go of fears, grievances, and judgments. The secret is simply to allow it to happen.
