More on Resistance to Exercise
In many areas of wellness, simply allowing the body's natural processes to be unfettered will tend to keep it in balance. With respect to moving however, minimal maintenance will not be enough. If you want to be well, you are going to have to do something more - exercise.
There are many excuses for neglecting exercise:
- It's no fun.
- It's for kids.
- I'm too busy.
- I'm too tired.
- I'm too fat.
- I look awful in tennis outfits.
- I can't afford the equipment.
- I don't have anyone to play with.
- I tried it once and it didn't work
- I can't keep up the pace.
- I don't know how.
- I'm afraid!
- Who knows what might happen if I did!
- I'm still afraid . . .
We can look at our resistance with compassion and deal with it. When we realize that these excuses, combined with our poor diet habits and stressful lifestyles, have resulted in overweight, dire heart conditions, high blood pressure, and energy-robbed lives, we can decide to join the millions of Americans who are choosing to get moving!
