Moments of Transcendence
Such moments of transcendence leave us changed, generally only for a brief time - since such awareness takes time to soak in and integrate in our being - but occasionally forever. In any case, such moments are usually indelibly etched in our consciousness. They supply us with new energy, joyfulness, and motivation about this business of living. They serve as reference points, opening us to previously untapped possibilities, thus expanding our horizons and creating new options. They often put us in touch with our truest, most peaceful, and most balanced selves. They show us glimpses of the connectedness, the oneness of all things.
The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. —Albert Einstein
Most of us are quite busy handling daily routines and the immediate problems of life, and many of us are quite comfortable within the confines of the world as we know it. We may not feel an immediate need to reach beyond, to peek through the cracks in the cosmos. Some of us, however, want much more. The aim of this section is to pique your curiosity, to help you break through conventional ways of thinking when you are ready for it. This section deals with many of the spiritual (or transpersonal") dimensions of wellbeing.
For some people, spiritual wellness is experienced primarily in participation in an organized religion. For others, spiritual is synonymous with the relationship to the natural world, or to the unknown or mysterious, or simply to a reality called "love." The material presented here is for everyone, however. We hope it will stretch your mind and heart, and even inspire you to take a longer and deeper look into yourself and the world (or worlds) in which you live.
Love the world as your own self; then you can truly care for all things. —Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
