Diet and Personality Types
Every age and culture has had its ways of classifying bodies and personalities: the ecto-, endo-, and mesomorphs . . . the phlegmatics and sanguines . . . the type As and the type Bs . . . Metabolism Type 1 through Metabolism Type 10. True to form, this interest in types" found expression in various approaches to diet throughout the 1990s, and the movement continues today. Following upon the popularity of books by pioneer Vasant Lad, MD, and Deepak Chopra, MD, the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda has been receiving widespread public interest. According to this system, individuals are designated according to one of three principles - vata, pitta, and kapha - and advised to eat foods that support that principle.
